UW-La Crosse Earns NWCA Scholar Team Award; Fourteen Claim All-America Laurels

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse was one of 20 programs to earn a 2010 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division III Scholar Team Award, while 14 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals were named to the Scholar All-American Team.

UW-La Crosse posted a team grade point average of 3.212 to rank 20th on the list.  The team grade point average is calculated as an average of the top 10 students on each team.  At least six of the 10 athletes chosen must have competed in the NCAA qualifying tournament, and the other athletes must have competed in 50 percent of the team’s scheduled contests.

Representatives from the WIAC on the Scholar All-American squad consisted of:  UW-Eau Claire’s Andy Johnston, UW-La Crosse’s Dan Laurent, Matt Mauseth and Andy Moore, UW-Oshkosh’s Zack Mueller, UW-Platteville’s Andy Casper, Jesse Milks, Brad Zellner and Cory Zuberbier, UW-Stevens Point’s Ben Engelland and UW-Whitewater’s Austin Bautista, Corey Schmidt, Jon Schmidt and Kyle Wachholder.
