Three Earn Academic All-America Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Recognition
MADISON, Wis.--Three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team.
UW-Eau Claire’s Liz Kooistra was a first team pick, while UW-La Crosse’s Caitlin Schetter was a second team selection and UW-Oshkosh’s Ayla Mitchell a third team honoree.
A senior from Lakeville, Minn., Kooistra is majoring in psychology with an emphasis in behavior analysis and carries a 3.58 grade point average. She is the second individual in program history to secure first team laurels, joining Liz Faller who earned the honor last year.
Kooistra’s selection marks the 11th time in the last 14 seasons an individual from the WIAC has secured first team recognition.
Schetter, a senior from Kiel, Wis., secured second team status for the second straight year. She maintains a 3.75 grade point average and is majoring in communication studies. Schetter is the 11th Academic All-American in program listings.
A senior from New Richmond, Wis., Mitchell owns a 3.91 grade point average and is majoring in elementary education. She is UW-Oshkosh’s eighth Academic All-American in the last eight years.
