Week of Feb. 12 - 18

UW-Platteville, Distance Medley Relay Team - Emma Dreis, Sophomore, Mazomanie (Wisconsin Heights) - Bobbi Arand, Sophomore, Stockton, Ill. - Jessica Scott, Sophomore, Kiel - Marcia Taddy, Senior, Two Rivers
The quartet won the UW-Platteville Open in 11:40.45, faster than any time ever in the WIAC and good enough to win any previous national championship.   Dreis ran the first 1,200 meters in 3:31.5, Arand the 400 in 1:01.4, Scott the 800 in 2:18.1 and Taddy the final 1,600 in 4:49.4.  The Pioneers automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship by more than eight seconds.

Owens placed second in the high jump improving her provisional qualifying height at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Feb. 17.  Her leap of 5-5 1/4 is the ninth-best jump in Division III this season and the second-best in the WIAC this year.

Week of Feb. 5 - 11
Track
Amanda Donath, Sophomore (West Bend/Kewaskum), of UW-Oshkosh
Donath took part in two school records at the Warhawk Classic on Feb. 10.  She won the 400-meter run with a school record time of 55.85 and was a member of the Titans’ second-place 1,600-meter relay team that posted a school record time of 3:53.54.  Both performances surpassed the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III Championship.

Fondow won the long jump at the Warhawk Classic on Feb. 10 with a NCAA Division III automatic qualifying mark of 18-8 1/2.  Her mark currently ranks first in the nation.

Week of Jan. 29 - Feb. 4
Track
Marcia Taddy, Senior (Two Rivers), of UW-Platteville
Running against NCAA Division I competition, Taddy ran the fastest 800-meter time in conference history.  She ran 2:09.04 at the University of Nebraska’s Frank Sevinge Husker Invitational.  Not only did she beat her old school record of 2:15.03, she broke every other WIAC school’s record in that event as well.  UW-Oshkosh’s Liz Woodworth has the next fastest time at 2:11.35.  Taddy automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship with her performance in the event.

Paula Crossfield, Senior (Madison/East), of UW-Eau Claire
Crossfield finished second in the 20-pound weight throw and set a school record in the process as the Blugolds competed at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout on Feb. 3.  She reached a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying toss of 50-6 3/4 to break the school record of 50-0 set on March 7, 1997 by Chris Konyn.

Jena Durnin, Senior (Evansville, Ind.), of UW-La Crosse
Durnin won the 55-meter dash at the UW-Stout Open with a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark of 7.22.  She also anchored the Eagles’ winning 4x200-meter relay team (1:48.45).  Durnin added a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.37).

Schwamb won the 20-pound weight throw as UW-Oshkosh won a quadrangular held Jan. 27 in Oshkosh.  She took first place in the 20-pound weight throw with a cast of 56-2 1/2 to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship.

Week of Jan. 15 - 21

Marcia Taddy, Senior (Two Rivers), of UW-Platteville
Taddy ran the fastest 1,000-meter ever in the WIAC, highlighting the Platteville Open on Jan. 20.  She turned in a stunning 2:47.37 in the 1,000-meter run which was better than all but one collegiate runner in the entire 2006 indoor season.  Only Villanova’s Frances Koons has had a better time (2:47.08) in the last two years in any NCAA division.  Taddy’s time broke any existing WIAC school mark by 11 seconds.

Chelsea Becker, Senior (Rice Lake), of UW-Eau Claire
Becker earned an automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault for the NCAA championship as UW-Eau Claire finished second in the eight-team Blugold Open on Jan. 19.  She won the event after clearing 12-2.  Becker’s performance is the best in the NCAA Division III this season.

Week of Jan. 8 - 14

Amanda Donath, Sophomore (West Bend/Kewaskum), of UW-Oshkosh
Donath won the 400-meter run as UW-Oshkosh opened its 2007 season with a 91-51 victory over Chicago (Ill.) on Jan. 13.  She surpassed the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III Championship with a time of 56.91.  Her time is the best in the NCAA Division III this season.
