Two Advance, Two Eliminated In NCAA Women’s Volleyball
MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and UW-Oshkosh will continue their postseason voyages, while UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater had their seasons come to an end in NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship matches played on Nov. 12.
The Blugolds, Titans and Warhawks were competing in the Oshkosh (Wis.) Regional at UW-Oshkosh. In first round matches, UW-Eau Claire (31-7) cruised past St. Olaf College (Minn.) 26-24, 25-22, 25-18, while UW-Oshkosh (36-2) handled St. Norbert College 25-9, 25-8, 25-11.
The Blugolds and Titans will meet in the second round on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to the championship contest on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
University of St. Thomas (Minn.) eliminated UW-Whitewater by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-17. The Warhawks completed the 2009 campaign with a 31-7 record and made the 22nd NCAA championship showing in program listings.
Competing in the St. Louis (Mo.) Regional at Washington University, UW-Platteville was upended by Nebraska Wesleyan University 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 25-11. The Pioneers finished the season with a 22-15 mark and made the program’s sixth appearance in the NCAA championship.
