Titans Claim Second Straight Women’s Volleyball Championship
LA CROSSE, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed its second straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women’s volleyball championship with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-16 victory over UW-La Crosse at Mitchell Hall on Oct. 7.
The conference title for the Titans is the 10th in program listings and fourth in the last five seasons. The previous four crowns won by UW-Oshkosh were shared.
UW-Oshkosh owns a 7-0 mark in WIAC contests and is 23-0 overall. UW-River Falls and UW-Whitewater currently sit in second-place in the nine-team league ledger with 3-2 records. With a victory in their final conference match against UW-Platteville on Oct. 21, the Titans would own a perfect WIAC mark for the first time since 1990.
The Titans were the preseason choice of the league’s sports information directors to claim the WIAC title. UW-Oshkosh also secured the No. 1 seed for the WIAC tournament and will host the semifinals and finals of the event on Nov. 6-7. First round matchups for the six-team league festival will be held on Nov. 3.
