Four Capture Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Recognition
MADISON, Wis.--Four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Women’s Volleyball Third Team.
UW-Eau Claire’s Abby Freiborg, UW-La Crosse’s Brianne Stankus and UW-Whitewater’s Stephanie Gardon and Kelly Sorensen received recognition.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Freiborg, a senior from Sacred Heart, Minn. (Renville County West), maintains a 3.68 grade point average and is majoring in communication sciences and disorders. She was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete this season.
A junior from Burlington, Wis., Stankus is double-majoring in exercise and sports science teaching and pre-school health education with a minor in adaptive physical education and carries a 3.49 grade point average.
Gardon, a senior from West Bend, Wis. (West), boasts a 3.94 grade point average and is majoring in elementary education with a minor in math education, while Sorensen is majoring in physical education with a minor in health/adapted physical education and owns a 3.93 grade point average.
