Week of Oct. 22 - 28
Christina Southward, Senior (St. Anthony,
Minn.), Setter of UW-Oshkosh
Southward helped Oshkosh, the 11th-ranked team in the NCAA Division III, to
five wins last week as the Titans raised their overall record to 29-3. Among
the victories was a 3-1 upset of top-ranked and WIAC rival Whitewater on October
24. UW-Oshkosh's other wins were over Ripon, Augsburg (Minn.), Marian and Stevens
Point, all in 3-0 counts. In the four-game victory over Whitewater, Southward
collected 60 assists and 21 digs. The victory snapped a 10-match losing streak
to the Warhawks and helped the Titans gain a tie for the WIAC championship with
the Warhawks. The WIAC title is the first for Oshkosh since 1995. Southward's
weekly totals included an average of 15.13 assists and 4.94 digs per game. She
also contributed 43 kills and a .635 hitting percentage.

Megan Eklund, Senior (Neenah), Setter

Eklund led the Eagles to a 3-0 record last week, including two WIAC road wins
over Superior and Eau Claire. In the win over Superior, Eklund had 39 assists,
ten kills, seven digs and four service aces. Against Eau Claire, she had 56
assists, ten digs, six kills and two service aces. Eklund added 44 assists and
three service aces in a 30-28, 30-17, 24-30, 30-18 win against NCAA Division
II opponent Winona State (Minn.). In eleven games on the week, she averaged
12.27 assists.

Kristy Dettman, Junior (Pulaski), Setter

Dettman led the top-ranked Warhawks to a 5-0 record on the week, including three
victories over ranked teams at the Wittenberg (Ohio) Invitational. She tallied
58 assists in a four-game win over second-ranked Mount Saint Joseph (Ohio) and
dished out 50 in a sweep of No. 11 Wittenberg. Against No. 5 Juniata (Pa.),
she netted 36 assists and 17 digs in a three-game victory. Her efforts at the
tournament were recognized, as she was the lone setter named to the all-tournament
team. For the week, Dettman averaged 14.71 assists and 3.50 digs, as well as
totaled 11 kills, five service aces and six blocks.

Rachel Eidet, Senior (North Mankato,
Minn./Mankato West), Outside Hitter of UW-Stout
Eidet helped the Blue Devils to a 3-0 record on the week and stay perfect in
the WIAC as Stout downed Eau Claire 3-1, La Crosse 3-0, and Platteville 3-0.
She had 13 kills and 28 digs against the Blugolds, 11 kills and 12 digs against
the Eagles and 17 kills and 15 digs against the Pioneers. On the week, Eidet
had 41 kills (4.10 k/g), 55 digs (5.50 k/g), five assists, two service aces,
two solo blocks and seven block assists.

Wildish helped the Warhawks to a 5-0 record on the week including a 4-0 record
at the Whitewater Invitational. In the Warhawks’ 30-26, 28-30, 30-18, 30-28
win over defending national champion Central (Iowa), Wildish had 19 kills and
26 digs. She added 16 kills and 22 digs against Oshkosh and 14 kills and 26
digs against Simpson (Iowa). In 19 games on the week, Wildish had 115 digs,
67 kills, five assists and six service aces and a .270 hitting percentage.

Jessie Goffard, Senior (Kimberly),
Right-Side Hitter of UW-Oshkosh
In seeing her first action of the season due to injury, Goffard posted 6.1-kill
and 4.3-dig averages in three conference wins for the Titans. In a 30-20, 30-27,
28-30, 30-25 win against Eau Claire, she established a new school record with
32 kills. Against Stevens Point, she had 17 kills and 12 digs. For the week,
she posted a .375 hitting percentage on 61 kills and 19 errors on 112 attempts,
and recorded eight blocks, seven assists and four service aces.

Gullerud led the Blugolds to a 3-1 record in the 12-team Illinois Wesleyan Classic
as she hit .331. She had 74 kills in the four matches, an average of 4.1 per
game and also had 62 digs with nine blocks, eight service aces and five assists.
After a 3-2 loss to Culver-Stockton (Mo.) on the first day of competition, the
Blugolds came back with a 3-0 win over Culver-Stockton Saturday as Gullerud
hit .613 with 21 kills in 31 attempts and only two errors.

Kaiser was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading the Pioneers to the
title of the UW-Platteville Invitational. The Pioneers defeated Benedictin (IL),
Dubuque (IA), North Central (IL) and UW-River Falls at the Invitational. Kaiser
hit 17-3-35 in the straight games win over UW-River Falls. In 18 games on the
week, she had 74 digs, 59 kills, eight service aces and two assists. The Pioneers
had a 5-0 record last week to improve to 8-1 on the season.

Christina Southward, Senior (St.
Anthony, Minn.), Setter/Rightside Hitter of UW-Oshkosh
Southward was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player as the Titans rolled
to a 4-0 record at the Benedictine (Ill.) Invitational over the weekend. She
posted a career-high 24 kills in a 30-25, 30-26, 29-31, 30-18 win over Benedictine.
Southward filled in as the team’s setter for two rotations due to injuries.
In 14 games, Southward had 85 assists, 71 kills, 69 digs, 21 service aces and
a .537 hitting percentage.
