UW-Stevens Point’s Jakusz Named Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point head coach Karlyn Jakusz was named the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women’s tennis coach of the year, based on a vote of the league coaches.

Jakusz, in her sixth season in charge of the Pointers, directed the squad to a fourth-place finish in the WIAC championship standings and a 10-5 record in dual matches.  For the first time in program history, UW-Stevens Point earned a spot in the four-team WIAC tournament to determine the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship.  The four-team event will be conducted in the spring.
