UW-Stevens Point Wins Second Straight Women’s Soccer Championship
MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point won its second straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women’s soccer championship with a 3-1 victory over UW-Eau Claire at the Pointer Soccer Bowl on Oct. 17.
The conference title for the Pointers is the league-leading 13th in program history. UW-Stevens Point owns a 7-0-0 mark against WIAC adversaries this season and could finish undefeated for the 11th time in program chronicles with a triumph over UW-Superior on Oct. 24.
The Pointers secured the No. 1 seed for the six-team WIAC tournament that begins Nov. 3. UW-Stevens Point will receive a bye in the first round and host a semifinal contest on Nov. 5. The winner of the conference tournament receives the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship.
