Four Secure Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Honors
MADISON, Wis.--Four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2009 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Women’s Soccer Team.
UW-Stevens Point’s Jackie Spees was a first team selection, while UW-Eau Claire’s Alyssa Walker claimed second team honors and UW-Oshkosh’s Steffanie Nagan and UW-Stout’s Kaitlin Arjes were third team picks.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA and two-year student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of CoSIDA.
Spees, a senior from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. (Lincoln), is majoring in health science and owns a 3.90 grade point average. Her selection to the 11-member team represents the ninth straight season an individual from the WIAC has claimed first team recognition. Spees is eligible for the Academic All-America team that will be announced on Nov. 17.
A sophomore from Madison, Wis. (West), Walker boasts a 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in biology. She is the only individual on the 11-member second team to carry a perfect grade point average.
Nagan, a junior from Kaukauna, Wis., maintains a 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in broadfield natural science. She is one of three honorees on the 13-member third team to boast a perfect grade point average. A junior from Owatonna, Minn., Arjes is majoring in graphic design and carries a 3.95 grade point average. She was a second team selection a year ago.
