UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point Receive NCAA Women’s Soccer Bids
MADISON, Wis.--For the second straight year, UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point will represent the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
UW-Stevens Point secured one of 39 automatic bids into the 61-team national field by winning the WIAC tournament, while UW-Eau Claire claimed one of the 19 at-large spots. The remaining three berths were awarded to non-qualifying conferences and independents.
The Pointers (17-3-0) will host a four-team regional Nov. 15-16 at Pointer Soccer Bowl and open competition against Edgewood College (16-3-2). University of St. Thomas (Minn.) (14-1-4) will meet Loras College (14-5-2) in the other match.
The Blugolds (17-2-3) will host a four-team regional Nov. 14-15 at Bollinger Fields and face Carthage College (17-3-0). Two-time defending national champion Wheaton College (Ill.) (18-3-1) will face Carroll University (Wis.) (13-5-2) in the other contest.
UW-Stevens Point is making its 13th appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament and owns an 11-12-1 record in postseason contests, while UW-Eau Claire is making its fourth consecutive showing.
