The primary purpose of the WIAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is to provide student-athletes with an active role in the governance of the conference. Committee members are expected to represent the viewpoint of the hundreds of student-athletes on their respective campuses and to serve as a vital communication link between the conference and its student-athletes. A secondary, though no less important, role of the WIAC-SAAC is to enhance the image of student-athletes both on campus and in the community. In this regard, the WIAC-SAAC is committed to engaging in campus and community service projects and to serving as positive role models for their peers and younger athletes.

The second annual UW-Superior Teddy Bear Toss was a success on Nov. 22 at Wessman Arena as 141 bears were collected and will be donated to local families in need. Fans were asked to bring a new Teddy bear to be tossed on the ice after the Yellowjackets scored its first goal in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game against St. Norbert College. UW-Superior’s first goal didn’t come until there was 11 minutes and 20 seconds remaining in the second period. Prizes were awarded for the largest bear tossed on the ice and to the student organization, group or team which brought the most bears. The event was sponsored by the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee). UW-Superior defeated St. Norbert 4-3. Thank you to all staff and students who participated in this event!
