Six Claim Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Honors

CoSIDAMADISON, Wis.--Six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2010 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Men’s At-Large Team.

UW-La Crosse’s Dan Laurent, UW-River Falls’ Bo Storozuk and UW-Whitewater’s Ian Hintz were first team selections, while UW-La Crosse’s Matt Mauseth, UW-Stevens Point’s Chris Hruska and UW-Whitewater’s Kyle Halweg were second team picks.

The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA and two-year student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of CoSIDA.  It includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Laurent, a senior wrestler from Mishicot, Wis., claimed first team honors for the second consecutive year.  He boasts a 3.94 grade point average and is double-majoring in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology.

A senior hockey player from Swan River, Manitoba, Storozuk owns a 3.95 grade point average and is majoring in business administration with a minor in environmental science.

Hintz is a senior on the tennis squad (men’s tennis is not sponsored by the WIAC) and a native of Burlington, Wis.  He is majoring in accounting and carries a 3.90 grade point average.

Laurent, Storozuk and Hintz are eligible for the Academic All-America Team that will be announced on June 8.

Mauseth, a junior wrestler from Rochester, Minn. (Mayo), is majoring in biomedical science and maintains a 3.48 grade point average, while Hruska is a senior swimmer from Verona, Wis., and is double-majoring in mathematics with actuarial emphasis and economics and carries a 3.78 grade point average.

A native of Waunakee, Wis., Halweg is a senior tennis player (men’s tennis is not sponsored by the WIAC) and owns a 3.85 grade point average, while double-majoring in operations management and economics.
