RELEASED: Wednesday, December 23, 2009 Three Ranked In Top 27 Of Directors’ Cup Standings
UW-Eau Claire is ranked 13th with 192 points, while UW-Whitewater is tied for 14th with 175 points and UW-Oshkosh is 27th with 134. The Blugolds claimed the NCAA Division III national championship in women’s cross country, while the Warhawks secured the national crown in football. Additional WIAC schools appearing in the standings include: UW-La Crosse (tied for 43rd), UW-Platteville (54th) and UW-Stevens Point (tied for 93rd). Williams College (Mass.) leads this year’s standings with 367 points, followed by Calvin College (Mich.) with 349 points, Washington University (Mo.) with 319, Messiah College (Pa.) with 290 and Johns Hopkins University (Md.) with 276. The standings recognize the best NCAA Division III overall athletics programs in the country and are based upon the completion of women and men's cross country, women’s field hockey, football, women and men's soccer and women's volleyball. The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
