MADISON, Wis.
--The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football, men's basketball and baseball programs received nominations for the fourth annual Wisconsin Sports Awards, which are slated for May 7 at The Beacon in Kohler, Wis.

The Warhawk football and baseball teams are nominated in the category of College Team of the Year for their performances during the 2014 calendar year.  The football team claimed its sixth NCAA Division III Championship in eight years, while the baseball team won its second national title in 10 years.  The St. Norbert College men's ice hockey team and the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team are also nominated.

Former head football coach Lance Leipold, head men's basketball coach Pat Miller and head baseball coach John Vodenlich are each up for College Coach of the Year.  All three led their respective teams to NCAA championships and were named national coach of the year by multiple organizations in 2014.  Wisconsin head men's basketball coach Bo Ryan is the only other nominee in the category.

The football team is also a nominee for Team of the Year.  Other nominees include Kimberly High School football, Germantown High School boys' basketball, Wisconsin men's basketball and the Green Bay Packers.

The Wisconsin Sports Awards recognize the best high school, college and professional athletes and teams across the state.

Last year, UW-Whitewater picked up College Coach of the Year (Lance Leipold) and College Team of the Year (football).  Several of the state's most recognizable sports figures were in attendance, including Ryan, Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy and Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
