UW-La Crosse Holds Advantage At Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship

WHITEWATER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the 12-time defending champion, holds the advantage following the first of two days of events at the 2014 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship at UW-Whitewater’s Kachel Fieldhouse on Feb. 28.
The Eagles compiled 92 points through the first seven scored events to top UW-Oshkosh’s second-place total of 54 points. UW-Eau Claire is third with 41 points, UW-Whitewater fourth with 35, UW-Platteville fifth with 25.50, UW-Stout sixth with 13.50, UW-Stevens Point seventh with 6, UW-Superior eighth with 4 and UW-River Falls ninth with 2.
UW-La Crosse earned three individual titles and one relay crown during the first day of competition. Ross Denman claimed the 400-meter dash crown with a time of 48.75, while Josh Dedering was victorious in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:28.74.
Jeffery Hill posted a first-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 15-11 and the distance medley relay team of Tom Linner, Cyrus Mason, Cole Hauenstein and Andrew Rohlman had a first-place clocking of 10:09.87.
UW-Eau Claire’s Roger Steen earned the shot put crown with a heave of 56-1 3/4 and UW-Oshkosh’s McKena Ramos won the one-mile run with a time of 4:10.90. UW-Whitewater’s Justin Bowers was victorious in the long jump with a leap of 23-10 1/4.
