--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the defending champion, owns the lead following the first of two days of competition at the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Roger Harring Stadium at Veteran’s Memorial Field Sports Complex on May 3.

The Eagles accumulated 84.50 points during the first day of events.  UW-Oshkosh is second with 41.50 points, UW-Whitewater third with 41, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 32, UW-Stout fifth with 25, UW-River Falls sixth with 19, UW-Stevens Point seventh with 15, UW-Platteville eighth with 12 and UW-Superior ninth with three.

Corissa Conard led UW-La Crosse’s first-place effort, securing the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:05.12.

UW-Oshkosh’s Samantha Loew earned the hammer throw with a fling of 168-4, while the Titans’ 4x800-meter relay team of Kristin Stockheimer, McKenzie Kelly, Mariah McMullen and Christy Cazzola posted a first-place time of 9:21.05.

UW-Eau Claire’s Ashlyn Mauer was victorious in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second time in her career with a time of 10:58.36.  She also won the event in 2011.

UW-Platteville’s Emily Kjos claimed the javelin with a toss of 114-11 to become the first Pioneer to win the event since Chris Koss in 1990.

UW-Stout’s Andrea Krueger won the pole vault with a height of 12-6 1/4, while UW-Whitewater’s Lexie Sondgeroth secured the long jump with a leap of 18-10 3/4.  Sondgeroth is the first Warhawk to capture the event since Camille Ross in 1999.
