UW-La Crosse Leads Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship

BROWN DEER, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, the defending champion, holds the lead following the first of three days of competition at the 2013 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 14.
The Eagles won four individual events and one relay crown en route to compiling 246 points. UW-Eau Claire is second with 219 points, UW-Stevens Point third with 217, UW-Whitewater fourth with 189, UW-River Falls fifth with 58 and UW-Oshkosh sixth with 45.
Erica O’Neill captured the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.64, while Sara Zemanovic was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.09 and Allison Yemm posted a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.33.
Jordan Anderson won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 441.40.
The quartet of Zemanovic, Brooke Reynolds, Leanna Schwartzlow and Dayna Johnson claimed the 400-yard medley relay 3:51.39.
UW-Stevens Point’s Ashley Majewski, Amy Boritzke, Colleen Baker and Andrea Wagner teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.17.
