Nineteen Named To NFCA All-Region Team

MADISON, Wis.--Nineteen Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been selected to the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes Region Team.
First team selections consisted of: UW-Eau Claire’s Amanda Fischer and Taylor Pierce; UW-River Falls’ Hayley Buchanan, Amanda Ryder and Rose Tusa; UW-Stout’s Hannah Sweet; and UW-Whitewater’s Laura Eichenold, Emily Epifanio and Amanda Mertes.
Named to the second team were: UW-Eau Claire’s Nikki Bromelkamp and Emma Wishau; UW-Oshkosh’s Katie Koepsel; UW-River Falls’ Ashley Goettl; UW-Superior’s Taylor VanDamme; and UW-Whitewater’s Paige Evangelista.
Third team selections consisted of: UW-Eau Claire’s Emily Muller; UW-La Crosse’s Katie Fink; UW-River Falls’ Patty Olson; and UW-Whitewater’s Katie Boyle.
Ryder, Tusa, and Epifanio secured first team accolades for the second straight year, while Goettl and VanDamme were third team picks in 2011. In 2010, Goettl and Olson were second team honorees and VanDamme received first team laurels.
The NFCA All-Great Lakes Region Team included individuals representing the WIAC, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Midwest Conference, Northern Athletics Conference, St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and University Athletic Association.
