Phil Devine, Freshman (Winnebago, Ill.), of UW-Oshkosh
Devine had one first-place and one second-place finish at the UW-Eau Claire Diving Invitational on Feb. 14. He won the one-meter diving with a score of 450.85 points to top the field of 11 competitors. Devine finished second among the 10 participants in the three-meter diving with 499.25 points.

Tom Phillips, Freshman (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park), of UW-River Falls
Phillips won two events in UW-River Falls’ 98-74 win at Hamline University (Minn.) on Feb. 6. He won the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:06.21. Phillips was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed first in 2:00.35.

Jacob Chadderdon, Senior (Madison/West), of UW-Oshkosh
Chadderdon recorded a pair of top-five finishes at the Minnesota Challenge held Feb. 6-7 in Minneapolis, Minn. He placed second in the three-meter diving with a score of 273.10 and fifth in the one-meter diving with a value of 261.20. Alex Stern of the University of Minnesota won the three-meter diving with a score of 278.95, while Tyler Jepsen of the University of Minnesota finished third with a value of 269.90. The event featured 17 competitors. In the one-meter diving, Nathan Jimerson of St. Cloud State University (Minn.) finished first among the 19 participants with a score of 287.35.

Sam Davy, Freshman (Stevens Point), of UW-Stevens Point
Davy registered three first-place finishes in UW-Stevens Point’s 155-88 dual meet win at UW-La Crosse on Jan. 31. He placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.16. Davy also led two relay teams to first-place finishes, swimming the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay that placed first with a time of 3:10.78 and the anchor leg of the 400-yard medley relay winning team with a time of 3:35.00.

Dembski was third in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:48.36), fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.95) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.13) at the Get to the Point Invite held Jan. 23-24.

Andy Hanney, Sophomore (Grafton), of UW-Whitewater
Hanney won the 100-yard backstroke at the UW-River Falls Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. He finished the event with a time of 55.46 and also took second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.82. Hanney was also a member of two relay teams that recorded second-place finishes. UW-Whitewater finished third in the nine-team invitational.

Dykstra won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational held in Minneapolis, Minn. He claimed the three-meter with a score of 260.75 and the one-meter with a mark of 255.60.

Patrick Finley, Senior (Waunakee), of UW-Eau Claire
Finley posted season-best times in winning two events and helped the Blugolds to a 122-102 victory over UW-Oshkosh. In his first event of the day, Finley finished with a time of 1:47.58 in the 200-yard freestyle, more than four seconds faster than the second-place finisher, and also won by more than 15 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.74.

Chadderdon qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division III Championship in both the one and three-meter diving events in meets against UW-La Crosse on Nov. 14 and UW-Eau Claire on Nov. 15. In UW-Oshkosh’s 188-54 loss to UW-La Crosse, Chadderdon won the one-meter diving with a score of 284.70 and the three-meter diving with a mark of 282.00. In the Titans’ 122-102 loss to UW-Eau Claire, Chadderdon won the one-meter diving with a score of 278.75 and the three-meter diving with a figure of 304.30.

Diehl placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.85), third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.25) and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.71) at the Cows, Colleges and Contentment Classic in Northfield, Minn.

Nick Mehring, Sophomore (Eagan, Minn./Eastview), of UW-Eau Claire
Mehring won two events and was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team as UW-Eau Claire defeated River Falls 120-84. He won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.16 and also secured first place in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.23. In the freestyle relay, his team had the best time at 1:33.28.

Chase Gross, Junior (Edina, Minn.), of UW-Stevens Point
Gross won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47:17 and the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21:34 in a triangular with UW-Eau Claire and St. Cloud State (Minn.) in Eau Claire Oct. 25. His time in the 50-yard freestyle tied his own pool record that he established in 2006.

In the Blugolds’ home opener against UW-Stevens Point and St. Cloud State (Minn.), Dykstra won the three-meter dive and took third in the one-meter, both against 10 other competitors. In the three-meter dive, he scored a national qualifying mark of 304.1 and picked up a mark of 249.1 in the one-meter dive.

Justin Zangl, Senior (Hartford), of UW-Oshkosh
Zangl won three events to help UW-Oshkosh opens its season with a 148-129 dual meet victory over UW-River Falls Oct. 18. He took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.17, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.58 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:48.88.
