Week of Oct. 19 - 25
Adam Flyte, Junior (Fort Atkinson), of UW-Eau Claire
Flyte battled through heavy snowfall to win the Lake Wissota Invitational on Oct. 23.  He ran the 8,000-meter course, which was blanketed with two inches of snow, in a time of 27:45 and led the Blugolds to a perfect score win over UW-River Falls and UW-Stout.

Week of Oct. 12 - 18
Connor Lonning, Senior (La Crosse/Aquinas), of UW-La Crosse
Lonning placed fifth overall at the Jim Drews Invitational on Oct. 17 at Maple Grove Golf Course in West Salem. He ran the 8,000-meter course in a time of 24:50.2 and helped lead UW-La Crosse to a second-place finish behind NCAA I the University of Wisconsin. A total of 462 runners participated in the event.

Week of Oct. 5 - 11
Jason Garvens, Junior (Byron, Minn.), of UW-Platteville
Garvens won the individual title and led UW-Platteville to second place out of 13 teams at 11th annual Dan Huston Invitational at Wartburg College (Iowa) on Oct. 10.  He completed the 8,000 meters in 25:49, winning by 11 seconds.

Week of Sept. 28 - Oct. 4
Joel Heroux, Junior (Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol), of UW-Stevens Point
Heroux led a group of Pointers who all finished in the top 30 at the Notre Dame Invitational Gold Division on Oct. 2.  He had his best finish of the season at eighth place with a time of 25.11.  In a thrilling finish, Heroux crossed the line ahead of the ninth place finisher who was credited with the same time.

Zach Wilhelmy, Freshman (La Crosse/Aquinas), of UW-La Crosse
Wilhelmy won the individual title and helped lead UW-La Crosse to the team title at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, Minn.  He ran the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:27.6.  A total of 370 runners and 35 teams participated in the event.

Week of Sept. 14 - 20
Jason Garvens, Junior (Byron, Minn.), of UW-Platteville
Running cross country for the first time in two years, Garvens won the individual title and led UW-Platteville to the team championship at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational on Sept. 19.  Garvens, who missed 2008 because of injuries, completed the 8,000-meter course in 26:32, winning by five seconds.  The Pioneers won the nine-school meet.

Week of Sept. 7 - 13
Abdi Hassan, Freshman (Burnsville, Minn.), of UW-River Falls
Hassan was the WIAC’s top finisher at the Luther College (Iowa) All-American Invitational on Sept. 12.  Hassan, competing in just his fifth cross country race ever, covered the four-mile course in 21:01 to finish third overall in a field that featured 138 individuals.
