UW-Stevens Point’s Urban Tops All-WIAC Women’s Golf Team

Jessica UrbanMADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Jessica Urban was named the Player of the Year to headline the 10 individuals earning recognition on the 2008-09 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Team.  Individuals were selected based on Golfstat’s rankings of lowest stroke average versus par following the conclusion of the WIAC championship.

Urban claimed first team honors for the third straight season.  She finished fourth at this year’s WIAC championship to help the Pointers to their second straight league crown and third in program history.   Urban compiled a conference-leading 79.2 stroke average during the fall.

UW-Stevens Point’s Michelle Pascavis claimed first team status for the second straight year after being named the league’s player of the year a season ago.   She placed sixth at the WIAC championship and captured medalist honors at the UW-Platteville Invitational and Illinois Wesleyan Invitational this fall.

Joining Urban and Pascavis on the first team were UW-Eau Claire’s Torie Ives and Katie Maurer, along with UW-Whitewater’s Chelsea Davis.  Ives secured first team accolades for the second time in her career.  She was a first team choice in 2006 and a second team pick a year ago.

Second team selections on this year’s squad consisted of:  UW-Eau Claire’s Lauren Gault and Emily Swift, UW-Stevens Point’s Nacheynah Green and Danelle Olson and UW-Whitewater’s Emily Kuiper.

The WIAC also announced an All-Sportsmanship Team for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season.  The team included one member from each school as selected by that school.

Named to the squad were:  UW-Eau Claire’s Katie Swift, UW-Oshkosh’s Emily Wichman, UW-Platteville’s Michelle Ebert, UW-River Falls’ Katie Kantrud, UW-Stevens Point’s Amanda Dlugopolski, UW-Stout’s Molly Loney, UW-Superior’s Amy Lenz and UW-Whitewater’s Diana Schmidt.
