Ten Claim D3football.com All-America Recognition;
UW-Whitewater’s Leipold Named Coach of the Year
MADISON, Wis.--Ten Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2009 D3football.com All-America Team, while UW-Whitewater head coach was named the Coach of the Year.
UW-Stout’s Marcus Ball (Sr., DL) and UW-Whitewater’s Levell Coppage (So., RB), Jeff Schebler (Sr., K) and Matt Weber (Jr., OL) secured first team honors. UW-Whitewater’s Kyle Supianoski (Jr., LB) and Troney Shumpert (Sr., DB) were second and third team selections, respectively. Honorable mention recipients included: UW-Platteville’s Tony Smidl (Sr., K), UW-Stout’s Kendall Wade (Sr., DB) and UW-Whitewater’s Garth Coats (Sr., C) and Jeff Donovan (Sr., QB).
Leipold also won the national coaching honor in 2007.
This marks the fifth straight season that the WIAC has had at least three individuals claim first team laurels from D3football.com.
