Game #7 -- Stevens Point 12, Whitewater 2 (8 innings)

For the second consecutive year, UW-Stevens Point defeated UW-Whitewater for the WIAC Tournament title and earned the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, with a 12-2, eight inning victory on May 14th at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Pointers tallied four runs in the fourth inning on RBI doubles by Ryan Byrnes and Doug Coe and a two-run home run by Tim Schlosser.

UW-Whitewater countered with two runs in the fifth on a two-run home run by Billy Johnson.

UWSP compiled four runs on four hits in the seventh. Highlighting the inning were Brandon Scheidler's two-run homerun and Chuck Brehm's two-run blast.

The Pointers put the game away with four more runs in the eighth on an RBI double by Coe, an RBI single by Schlosser and Nat Richter's double off the right field foul pole that scored Scheidler with the game ending run.

Mike Thrun earned the win for UWSP pitching six innings, scattering four hits and allowing two runs (both earned) and striking out five batters. Thrun improved to 4-1 on the season, while Josh Perkins pitched the final two innings to earn his second save of the year.

Chris Spangler took the loss for the Warhawks, falling to 6-4 on the season.
