WIAC Continues
Ambassador Program
Madison, Wis.--The
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) is sponsoring
the WIAC Ambassador Program once again for the 2008-09 academic
year. The ambassador program, which was established in 2003, is
one of a number of strategies that have been employed by the WIAC
to encourage positive sports behaviors among its fans, student-athletes
and coaches.
WIAC Ambassadors are expected
to attend and remain visible during athletics events as a way to
curb unsportsmanlike behavior. Ambassadors are not expected to serve
as event security, but rather act as a deterrent by virtue of being
visible and in position to identify to game management personnel
any individuals behaving in an unacceptable manner.
Each Ambassador is outfitted
in apparel that clearly identifies that individual as a "WIAC
Ambassador". Ambassadors also receive a WIAC conference pass
that will admit them into any and all WIAC athletics events.
Individuals interested in
serving as WIAC Ambassadors should contact the athletics director
of the WIAC institution in their area. A limited number of ambassador
positions are available at each institution.
